Charity Champion

Active Always Charity cheque presentation

What can you expect?

  •  Supporting Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Charity team by managing stalls at local community events (which may involve working outdoors) and assisting with tasks like registration, ticket checking, selling raffle tickets, and event preparations as needed. 
  • Assist with bucket collections at venues across Worcestershire.
  • Manage charity collection tins in your local area.
  • Represent the charity at donation presentations and thanking supporters.
  • Generic fundraising and event support.
  • A mixture of the above or just one – it’s up to you!


There are no set time expectations, but we would hope you could join us for around one event per month during the busier seasons.

What experience is needed?

 You don’t need any previous experience in events or fundraising—we’re simply looking for people who enjoy being active in their local community and are eager to help raise awareness of their local hospital charity.


In return, our charity team will provide all the support you need. We aim to offer you a rewarding and interesting volunteering experience where you can develop new skills, meet new people, be part of a great team, and make a real difference by supporting your local hospital charity.

Charity Research Coordinator

What can you expect?

  • Researching and compiling lists and spreadsheets of local groups, businesses, and events to boost fundraising efforts 
  • Identifying opportunities for charity participation in community events and speaking engagements.
  • Assisting the Head of Fundraising with grant applications – undertaking research and sourcing information.


There are no set time expectations, but we would hope you could dedicate a few hours over the course of a year.

What experience is needed?

 You don’t need any previous experience in research, administration or fundraising but you will need access to your own computer, email, and internet access.


A good local knowledge of Worcestershire would also be helpful but more importantly we are looking for people who are keen to help support their local hospitals charity.


In return, our charity team will provide all the support you need. We aim to give you a rewarding and interesting volunteering experience where you can develop new skills, meet new people, be part of a great team, and make a real difference by supporting your local hospital charity.

Charity Community Educator

What can you expect?

  • Delivering talks and presentations about Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Charity to a range of audiences including local community groups and schools. 
  • Promote charity presentations and book speaking engagements in your local area.
  • Represent the charity at events and donation presentations. 
  • A mixture of the above or just one – it’s up to you!


There are no set time expectations, but we would hope you could deliver one or two presentations throughout the year.

What experience is needed?

 You don’t need any previous experience in public speaking or presenting—just confidence speaking in front of a group and ideally some confidence in using Microsoft PowerPoint. 


We’re simply looking for people who enjoy being active in their local community and are eager to help raise awareness of their local hospital charity.

Charity Awareness Stand Coordinator

What can you expect?

  • Manning the charity awareness stands at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Alexandra Hospital and Kidderminster Treatment Centre, engaging with visitors and answering questions - who can choose which site you wish to support. 
  • Set up and pack away the stand, keeping the charity team updated on visitor engagement. 
  • Directing visitors to the donation stations, if they would like to make a donation. 


There are no set time expectations, but we would hope you could join us for around one event per month during the busier seasons

Charity Storyteller

Why your story is important

 Everyone has a personal reason for supporting a charity, and we’re always excited to hear the unique details that bring those stories to life.


As a charity storyteller, we’d love for you to:


  • Share a few short paragraphs about why you’ve chosen to support or fundraise for us.
  • Provide details about your fundraising efforts.


There’s no set time commitment, but sharing even one story about your journey and motivation can make a big difference. 


By sharing your story, you can:


  • Highlight the amazing experiences of real people accessing Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust services.
  • Raise awareness of the charity’s goals and work.
  • Inspire others to get involved and make an impact.

How we will support you

 The media wants to hear good news stories. It can be exciting, but it’s often fast paced and hectic too. Sharing your story with the media, may also be an emotional experience. 


  • We will support you each step of the way. 
  • We will give you a clear explanation of what you need to do and make sure you are comfortable. 
  • We only work with reputable journalists and organisations.


Your time and goodwill are valued, and we understand that everyone has commitments and you may wish to be more involved or less involved depending on your circumstances. 


We will be sensitive to your individual situation.

How your story might be used?

Everyone’s story is unique, but here are just a few examples of how we might use yours:


  • Talking to local media (newspapers, radio, TV & magazines). 
  • Being filmed or photographed for adverts, posters, leaflets, or our website. 
  • Giving talks to staff, other volunteers, or supporters. 
  • Taking part in events. 
  • Giving a quote(s) and photo(s) on a topical issues, campaigns, or events. 

Is there any training?

 Before you become a volunteer, you will be invited to attend our Trust induction programme and will need to complete our E-Learning for Health modules. 


Training is really important, because we want to make sure both you and our patients are safe. It helps us feel confident that you have all the info you need to carry out your volunteer activities safely, without putting anyone at risk.

Development opportunities

 Volunteering is a wonderful way to develop your skills, explore your interests, and make a meaningful impact in your community. What can you expect?

 Are you aged 16-25 and ready to make a real impact?  


  • Assist the Community Fundraising team and other volunteers at local events and shows (some of which will require working outside) by helping with registration, ticket checking, tombola-style fundraising, event preparation and raising awareness.
  • Helping to source raffle prizes and design posters/ flyers.
  • Provide feedback to charity staff on visitor interactions and interests in projects.
  • Directing visitors to donation stations and encouraging donations.
  • Promoting the charity’s work by giving presentations at school.
  • Helping with charity tin and bucket collections at supermarkets, garden centres, and other venues.
  • A mixture of the above or just one – it’s up to you!
