Remembering festive moments spent with our loved ones. When you think back to your favourite Christmas memories do they include Morecambe and Wise, Christmas Top of the Pops, gathering to watch the Royal speech or a family favourite Christmas film?
The Christmas Memories Appeal is raising funds to purchase Reminiscence Tablets for patients with dementia or cognitive impairment.
These systems support patients in recalling and sharing events from their past through listening to music, watching news reports of significant historical events, listening to war-time speeches, playing games and music and watching films. There are also exercise classes and physical therapies to help support patients staying active whilst in hospital.
Spending time in hospital over the festive period can be even more isolating and disorientating for our most vulnerable and elderly patients. Reminiscence tablets can be used by our nursing teams with individual patients or for group activities, as well as supporting visitors to help engage and share memories with their loved ones whilst they spend time in our care.
Each Reminiscence system costs £5000 and will be used by wards across Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust hospitals to support patients with dementia or cognitive impairment.
Thank you for gifting Christmas Memories this festive season.
