Worcestershire Royal Hospital Urgent & Emergency Care Appeal

With your help we have been able to add amazing finishing touches to the new Emergency Department at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

We are delighted to share the huge difference for patients, staff and services that your support has made all of which are over and above what the NHS is able to fund.

The difference you have made

The artwork in the children’s department has been specifically designed to both make the environment feel more welcoming as well as serving as a distraction for children and their loved ones whilst they are with us.

From bright and colourful imagery, engaging animal characters and age appropriate explanations to sign-posting your support has transformed this area.

The ability to distract and entertain children greatly improves care and supports parents and carers during upsetting and stressful experiences.

Supporters have also enabled the funding of computer game units which will help to put older children and young adults at ease, providing a form of entertainment whilst they are with us.

“By enabling these finishing touches you have transformed our patients’ experience of care. A bright and colourful environment will make all the difference to our young patients. Thank you so much for your support.” Natalya Moore, Children’s Emergency Department Manager.

Transformation of Mental Health Assessment Rooms

In the adult’s area beautiful large landscape scenes have been installed throughout the department plus fun graphics for the X-Ray room.

By creating a calming and attractive space patients will feel less anxious and better able to engage in their ongoing care. These improvements can make a huge difference to a patient’s outcome.

Your gifts have also transformed the Mental Health Assessment Rooms from plain white rooms to a calm and welcoming space with the introduction of artwork depicting sweeping views of the Malvern Hills and beautiful beaches.

Phone Charging Station

Your support has also allowed for the provision of a phone charging station in the main reception of the department.

This service will be free of charge for patients enabling those in our care to keep in touch with their loved ones during a stressful time.

Mural welcoming community to the new Department

Your support has also transformed the outside of the department. In partnership with Severn Arts, and with majority funding from Arts Council England, we have worked with illustrator Emily Kaye to design and paint a mural on the wall opposite the reception areas.

The mural is bright and colourful and aims to make everybody who needs the new Emergency Department feel welcome.

Thank you for helping to create an Urgent and Emergency Care Department that provides the type of environment that supports our patients’ wellbeing. We have been overwhelmed by the incredible support we have received from our community. Thank you so much.
